Hugh Freeze Leaving Ole Miss

Hugh Freeze Resigns as Ole Miss Head Coach

After 11 Years and 89 Wins, Freeze Departs Oxford

Freeze guided the Rebels to two nine-win regular seasons and a pair of bowl victories

Hugh Freeze has resigned as head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels, the school announced Sunday. Freeze led the Rebels to a 6-6 record in the regular season, including a 41-24 victory over Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.

Freeze has a 69-32 career college coaching record, including a 39-25 mark at Ole Miss. He guided the Rebels to back-to-back nine-win regular seasons for the first time since the 1960s.

Freeze's departure comes after a tumultuous few years at Ole Miss. In 2016, the NCAA levied a two-year bowl ban and scholarship reductions on the Rebels for violations that occurred under Freeze's watch.

Freeze has since guided Ole Miss to two bowl victories, but the Rebels have struggled to maintain the momentum they had under him in 2014 and 2015.

Ole Miss is now searching for its fourth head coach in the past six years. The Rebels have not won a national championship since 1960.
