Updated Timberwolves Injury Report: Four Players Out for Game 1
Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert Headline Injury Concerns
Updated: March 8, 2023
As the Minnesota Timberwolves prepare for their first-round playoff matchup against the Phoenix Suns, they will be without four key players due to injuries.
Karl-Anthony Towns, the team's All-Star center, is out indefinitely with a left knee meniscus tear. Towns suffered the injury in a March 7th game against the Memphis Grizzlies and is expected to miss the entire playoffs.
Rudy Gobert, the team's starting center, is also out with a left rib sprain. Gobert suffered the injury in the same game as Towns and is expected to miss at least the first two games of the series.
In addition to Towns and Gobert, the Timberwolves will also be without Daishen Nix (ankle sprain) and Jaylen Clark (concussion) for Game 1 of the series.
The injuries to Towns and Gobert are a significant blow to the Timberwolves' playoff hopes. Towns is the team's leading scorer and rebounder, while Gobert is a defensive anchor. Their absence will make it difficult for the Timberwolves to compete against the top-seeded Suns.
The Timberwolves will need to rely on their depth and resilience to overcome these injuries. Anthony Edwards, D'Angelo Russell, and Naz Reid will need to step up and play at a high level. The team will also need to get contributions from their bench, including Kyle Anderson, Jaden McDaniels, and Jordan McLaughlin.
Despite the injuries, the Timberwolves are confident that they can still make a run in the playoffs. They have a talented roster and have shown a lot of toughness throughout the season. They will need to play their best basketball in order to advance, but they believe they have what it takes to win.
The Timberwolves will host the Suns in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series on Saturday, April 15th. The game will be televised on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. ET.
